White Gourd Mor Kuzhambu

White Gourd (Petha/Kohla) Mor Kuzhambu is a flavourful South Indian style dahi based curry.

White gourd is cooked with aromatic spices and then mixed with Sarda Farms dahi to make a tangy, flavourful curry that goes well with steamed rice. For a variation you can use cucumber or pumpkin instead of white gourd.

  • 2 cups ‏white gourd, peeled and cubed
  • 1/3 cup ‏Sarda Farms dahi, whisked
  • ½ teaspoon ‏turmeric powder

Place the white gourd, 1/2 teaspoon salt, turmeric powder and about 1 1/2 cups water I a pan.

Cover and cook on low heat till the gourd softens.

Meanwhile, blend together all the ingredients under ‘To be ground into a fine paste’. Use little water if required to make a fine paste.

Add this paste to the cooked gourd and stir.

Adjust the quantity of salt and simmer on low heat till it thickens.

Add the dahi to the pan and stir to mix well. Do not boil the curry once the dahi is added. Just warm it for 1-2 minutes.

In a small pan heat the oil.

Add the mustard seeds and once they splutter add the cumin seeds, red chillies, curry leaves and hing.

Add this tempering to the curry. Mix and serve with rice.
