Stuffed baked apples
Baked Apples stuffed with walnuts and dates make for a simple comforting dessert. The natural goodness of antibiotic and hormone free Sarda Farms ghee enriches the flavour of the stuffed apples.
- 4 Red, crisp apples.
- ½ cup walnuts
- ¼ cup dates, pitted
- 2-3 tablespoon powdered jaggery or brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon apple pie spice or nutmeg or cinnamon
- 2-3 tablespoons Sarda Farms ghee
- 1 tablespoon Sarda Farms milk
Pre-heat the oven to 180 degree Celcius.
Pulse together walnuts, dates, jaggery and the spice mix in a blender to a coarse powder.
Using an apple corer or a sharp knife, scoop out the core from top of the apple, leaving a cavity in the centre. Do not cut all the way through.
Rub the apples with a little ghee on the outside.
Lightly grease a shallow baking pan with ghee and place the apples in it.
In a bowl mix the walnut-date powder with milk and remaining ghee.
Divide the mixture in 4 parts and stuff the apple cavities with it.
Bake for about 20 minutes till the apples are tender (timing may change depending on the oven efficiency and quality of apples)
Serve hot on their own or with a scoop of ice-cream or chocolate sauce. You can also cut the apple in half vertically, and then serve with the desired topping.
