Kadhi with methi (fenugreek) gatte (dumplings)

Methi (fenugreek) dumplings (gate) are added to the kadhi to make this delectable Kadhi with methi (fenugreek) gatte (dumplings). Addition of iron rich fenugreek enhances the nutritional value of this dish. Wholesome, additive free Sarda Farms dahi makes the kadhi tasty and delicious, while fresh Sarda Farms ghee makes it flavourful. Kadhi with methi (fenugreek) gatte (dumplings) can be served with steamed rice or makes for a light meal in itself. The ingredient list looks long winded but the recipe is very simple.



  • 1 cup ‏methi leaves,chopped
  • 2-3 ‏garlic cloves,minced
  • ¼ cup ‏besan (chickpea flour) or as required
  • 2 teaspoons ‏Sarda Farms ghee melted
  • ½ teaspoon ‏red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon ‏cumin (jeera) powder
  • 1 teaspoon ‏coriander (dhaniya) powder
  • ‏Salt to taste


For the gatte
Mix all the ingredients under methi gatte in a mixing bowl.
Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons water to bring it all together .
Divide into 8-9 portions and rolls it into balls.

For the kadhi
Blend together dahi, 2 cups water, besan, turmeric, chilli powder, hing, salt, sugar in the jar of a blender.
Heat ghee in a pan on low flame.
Add mustard seeds and once they crackle add cumin seeds.
Add fennel, methi seeds and mix.
Add the dahi mixture and stir to mix.
Bring it to a boil.Stir in between.
Once the kadhi comes to a rolling boil, add the methi gatte one by one. Do not stir for a few minutes.
Cook on low flame for 8-10 minutes,gently stirring once or twice.
Serve hot.
