Honey roasted strawberries with vanilla custard
A classic vanilla flavoured custard topped with honey roasted strawberries makes for a simple but elegant dessert. Additive free Sarda Farms milk makes the custard rich and tasty. You can serve the custard on its own or topped with any other fruit of choice.
- 1 ½ cups Sarda Farms milk
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 ½ tablespoons cornflour
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ vanilla bean (or vanilla extract)
- 5-6 strawberries, sliced
- 2 tablespoons honey
Add 1 tablespoon milk to the egg yolks and whisk
Whisk milk, cornflour and remaining sugar in a saucepan.
Scrape seeds from the vanilla bean and add them to the milk.
Heat milk on a medium flame and bring it to a gentle boil.
Pour some milk over the egg yolks and whisk.
Pour the eggs-milk mixture back in the saucepan.
Stir and cook till the mixture thickens.
Cool completely. Cover the custard as it cools to prevent the formation of film on the surface.
Meanwhile place the strawberries in a non-stick pan on low heat.
Drizzle honey over it and cook for a minute or till the slices soften a bit.
Take them off heat and cool completely.
To serve, spoon the custard in 3-4 serving bowls/glasses and top with the honey roasted strawberries. Serve as it is or chilled
