Gul Papdi is traditional sweet made using wheat flour, ghee and jaggery. Roasting the wheat flour in flavourful Sarda Farms ghee lends it an earthy aroma. The recipe is very simple and straight forward, you just need little bit of patience to make it.
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup Sarda Farms ghee
- ½ cup powdered (or grated) Jaggery
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg powder
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 1-2 teaspoons sliced pistachios
- 1 teaspoons chironji/charoli (or any nut of choice)
Grease a small plate/pan with little ghee
Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan on low flame.
Add flour and roast it till it starts turning brown (about 10-12 minutes) Stir constantly to aboid it from burning.
Take the pan off heat and add jaggery and nutmeg.
Add 1 tablespoon of Sarda Farms milk if you feel that the mixture is too dry.
Place it on the greased pan and spread evenly.
Sprinkle sesame seeds, pistachio flakes and chironji.
Make indentations with a sharp knife to cut it into squares or diamonds.
Let it cool completely.
Cut into pieces and store in an airtight container.
