Ghee grilled onions
Ghee grilled onions is a super tasty side dish that pairs well with meat, tandoori dishes or spicy gravies. Flavourful Sarda Farms ghee lends a rich, nutty taste to the grilled onions. This recipe uses fresh thyme but you can use any other herb like coriander, rosemary etc.
- 2 onions
- 2-3 teaspoons ghee
- ½ teaspoon crushed black pepper (or red chilli powder, red chilli flakes)
- Few sprigs of fresh thyme leaves (or any other herb of choice)
- Salt to taste
Peel the onions and trim the ends.
Cut them into thick circular slices (~1/2 inch)
Drizzle ghee on the onion slices.
Heat a grill pan on medium-high flame.
Grill the slices on both sides until onion is just tender and begins to caramelise. (~ 4-5 minutes on a hot grill)
Place grilled slices on a serving plate.
Sprinkle pepper, salt and serve garnished with thyme leaves.
