Garlicky mashed potatoes

Garlicky mashed potatoes makes for a perfect accompaniment for meat roasts, beans or curries. Boiled potatoes are mashed and flavoured with garlic. Addition of wholesome Sarda Farms milk makes them rich and creamy. Additive free, flavourful Sarda Farms ghee replaces butter which is traditionally used to make mashed potatoes. For a variation you can similarly make mashed sweet potatoes or mashed peas.


  • 2-3 ‏boiled potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/3 ‏cup Sarda Farms milk, warmed
  • 2 ‏tablespoon Sarda Farms ghee
  • 5-6 ‏garlic cloves, minced
  • ¾ ‏teaspoon crushed black pepper
  • ‏Pinch of nutmeg powder
  • ‏Salt to taste
  • 2-3 ‏sprigs herb of choice (parsley,mint,coriander,thyme etc)


Heat ghee in a pan on low flame.

Add garlic and sauté for few seconds.

Add potatoes, nutmeg and stir.

Add about ¼ cup water and let it come to a boil. Cook on low flame for 1-2 minutes.

Take the pan off the heat and mash the potatoes with a masher or use a food mill to remove lumps while the potatoes are still hot.

Return the pan to the stove, add milk and stir to mix well. The potatoes will absob the milk to make a thick mash.

Add salt, pepper and mix.

Serve immediately garnished with herb of choice.


To boil potatoes, pressure cook them in salted water for 3 whistles and then 10 minutes on SIM (time may change depending on the quality of potatoes)
