Curd (dahi) Rice

Curd (dahi) Rice is one of the most comforting & soul satisfying meals that is made in many states across India. Fresh, wholesome Dahi from Sarda Farms mixed with cooked rice and tempered with some spices makes for a quick soothing, satisfying meal.




  • 1 cup ‏Cooked rice
  • ¾ cup ‏Sarda Farms dahi (or as required)
  • 2 ‏Stuffed dried chillies or green chillies chopped
  • 8-10 ‏Curry leaves
  • 2-3 teaspoons ‏Oil + more as required to fry the stuffed chillies
  • 1 teaspoon ‏Mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon ‏Cumin seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon ‏Hing (asafoetida)
  • ‏Salt to taste


Mix together the rice, dahi and salt in a bowl.

In a small pan fry the stuffed chillies in oil if using. If you are using green chillies skip this step.

Take out the chillies.

Heat about 2-3 teaspoons oil in the same pan.

Add the mustard seeds

Once they splutter add the cumin seeds, hing & curry leaves.

Take it off the heat & pour over the rice.

Break the fried stuffed chillies in pieces and add to the rice.

Mix and keep side for 10 minutes for the flavours to mingle or chill for about 30 minutes.

Serve with pickle on the side.


The above recipe makes quick, instant Curd rice. If the rice is to be used later or is to be used as travel food, instead of adding only dahi, add a mixture of dahi and milk so that it does not turn too sour.
