Chocolate Basil pudding
Chocolate Basil pudding is a fun way to include healthy basil (sabja) seeds in your diet. Dates add their natural sweetness to the delicious pudding, eliminating the use of white sugar.
Preservative free, natural goodness of wholesome Sarda Farms milk boosts the taste of this nutritious breakfast dessert.

Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cup Sarda Farms milk
- 5-6 tablespoons Basil or chia seeds (sabja)
- 1/3 cup chopped dates
- 2-3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- Flaked almonds or pistachios for garnish (optional)
- Sliced bananas for garnish (optional)
Method
Soak the chopped dates in ¼ cup warm milk.
Blend to a chunky paste in the mixer.
Stir together the remaining milk, date paste, cocoa powder and basil seeds in a bowl.
Fill 1 large or 2-3 small serving bowls/glasses with the pudding mixture and refrigerate for 3-4 hours. Stir a few times to ensure that the basil seeds are equally distributed.
Once the pudding thickens serve garnished with the nut flakes and sliced bananas (if using)
Notes: Basil seeds are easily found in most grocery stores in India. You can also use Chia seeds
The basil seeds when soaked in any liquid swell up and thus help the pudding to thicken. Using lesser amount of basil seeds may make the pudding thinner, which can be served as a drink.
