Black eyed peas (chawli) salad with ghee dressing
Additive free, fresh Sarda Farms ghee can be used to make healthy & flavourful salad dressing. It is combined with kokum extract & jaggery to dress this black eyed peas (chawli) salad. You can use tamarind pulp or lemon juice instead of kokum extract
- 1 cup black eyed peas (chawli) soaked in water for 5-6 hours and then boiled
- 1 ½ tablespoon Sarda Farms ghee, melted
- 1-2 tablespoons kokum extract
- 1 tablespoon jaggery
- 1 tablespoon crushed roasted groundnuts
- ¾ teaspoon cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 10-12 mint leaves
Drain water from the peas and add them to a mixing bowl.
Add cumin powder, chilli powder, crushed groundnuts, mint leaves and mix.
Mix 2 tablespoon water in the jaggery and stir to dissolve
Add ghee, kokum, jaggery water, salt to a glass jar.
Close the lid and shake vigorously to mix everything.
Add as required to the beans.
Serve garnished with more mint leaves.
