  • ‏Large pinch of saffron
  • ‏Sliced nuts like almonds, pistachios or chironji for garnish

Drain the water from the almonds. Peel off and discard the skin.

Grind the almonds to a smooth paste in a blender. Use 2-3 tablespoons milk to make the paste.

Mix the sugar and milk in a non-stick pan and heat over medium-low heat.

Bring the milk to a boil, add saffron and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Stir a few times so that it does not stick to the bottom of the pan.

Add the ground almonds and stir so that they are incorporated properly.

Simmer for 1-2 minutes and serve hot or chilled garnished with nuts.

You can use cardamom, nutmeg or cinnamon instead of/along with saffron.

You can adjust the ratio of almonds to milk depending on the desired consistency of milk.
